What do we mean when we say "Folk Horror?"
Folk Horror is one of the more broadly defined subgenres of horror with many interpretations. Strong themes include the utilization of folklore to elicit dread, the inherent conflict between the old and the new, the dangers present in nature and the wilds, etc, all of which will be fully explored in the Crooked Moon.
Our “north star” for how we view folk horror is what’s been coined as the “folk horror chain,” which is the chain of story elements leading into each other to bring about folk horror: Rural Locations. Isolated Groups. Skewed Morals and Belief Systems. Supernatural and/or Violent Happenings.
We don’t view this as prescriptive, and we will even include some elements of gothic horror, body horror, cosmic horror, ghost stories, occult detective stories, psychological horror, slasher horror, and more… but they will all be in service driving the theme of folk horror in the Crooked Moon.

Will there be elements of SCP and/or creepy pasta?
No. We have many inspirations for this book, but they do not include SCP or creepy pastas, although there are undoubtedly shared inspirations for folklore related horror stories.

No. All of the creatures of the Crooked Moon will be original to the setting. While we are drawing inspiration from creatures, monsters, tropes, and themes from classic folklore, we are bringing a unique approach to everything that appears in the supplement.

What will the GM screen show?
The GM screen will have two types of information for Game Masters: Some parts of the screen will display common and frequently needed information from the standard DnD rules so they’re readily available at a glance. The rest of the screen will display important details that will be relevant throughout the adventure, such as new rules, mechanics and setting details introduced in The Crooked Moon. A quick reference index table will also help you find what you need within the book itself, should you need to look up fuller details in a pinch.

Yes, indeed! We’ll be using BackerKit as our pledge manager. About 2-3 weeks after the campaign concludes, you’ll receive an email with a survey. In that survey, you can share your address, upgrade your pledge tier, and add any extra items you’d like.

When will I be charged?
After the Kickstarter campaign ends on November 1st, Kickstarter will charge your chosen payment method automatically. If you’ve picked a physical reward, remember that you’ll still need to cover shipping (check our estimated prices) and any applicable sales tax. The exact amount depends on your order, location, and local tax rates. BackerKit will calculate this for you when it’s time to fulfill orders.

Stretch goals are additional products and features that we aim to unlock as our Kickstarter campaign reaches certain funding milestones. What happens when the Kickstarter ends?
After our Kickstarter ends, you’ll receive a receipt for your pledge. It’s important to check this receipt to make sure your pledge went through successfully. We won’t be able to deliver items to pledges that didn’t go through, so please double-check.
Once your pledge is confirmed, you can relax, knowing that your Crooked Moon products will be made. But there’s more to do! We’ll send you a BackerKit survey where you can add more add-ons if you want. This is also where we’ll charge for shipping. All shipping costs will be calculated in the BackerKit survey.
Important Note: We will only deliver physical items to backers who: A. Successfully pledged to one of the physical reward tiers. B. Successfully pay for shipping in their BackerKit survey.

How do I pay for shipping?
Shipping costs are not charged through Kickstarter. Instead, they will be calculated using BackerKit once we’ve sent out surveys and confirmed the dimensions and weights of the items. When you make your pledge, your receipt will show a charge of “$0.00 for shipping” – this is from Kickstarter. The actual shipping costs will be applied through BackerKit after the Kickstarter campaign ends.
Please keep in mind that the estimated shipping costs on the campaign page are based on current size and weight estimates of the products in each pledge tier. These estimates may change, but we strive to provide as accurate shipping prices as possible. It’s worth noting that due to the ongoing global shipping situation, final shipping prices might exceed our initial estimates. We will update the shipping price in your BackerKit survey as soon as we have their precise weights and dimensions.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
